SALMON ARM BRANCH IS NOW OPEN FOR BUSINESS!

by

Well, the sign is up, the place has been gutted, cleaned,  redecorated, the new storefront entry is installed, the counter, computers and infrastructure is online —And New Inventory Is Arriving Daily! That means… We’re Open!

It’s been awhile since our last post and much has happened since then. Between staff holidays and trying to get the new Salmon Arm store ready by our soft-open date (August 05), it’s been a whirlwind battle against time. We did however manage to take a few photos along the way. There will be more coming once the shelves fill out and the showroom is better organized.

We did want to thank Dave The Electrician, Shaw, Telus, Our Phone provider, Brush Strokes signs, Salmon Arm Door & Window and everyone else involved for helping us get this all together in a short, well-organized timeline.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any pictures of the raw shell when we first got the keys. Too excited, I guess. But here are a few of the earliest pics we did take showing the raw space. The unit had been used for heavy trucks previously so there were many layers of grease and grime that had to first be pressure washed —twice, these are pics after that was done.

This pic was taken standing in the Southern bay, looking across the rear of the space. There are a set of stairs on the far side which lead to a mezzanine we hope to one day house an expanded safety department featuring everything from traffic vests to work boots, traffic control devices and all the other gear used and required in construction and industrial applications.

Here’s another pic from the back wall of the southern bay looking out towards the showroom. We painted the floor to give it a nice, fresh appearance. The walls too have been painted with a few coats of white paint to cover the years of grime accumulated.

Next came the installation of the slatwall and the cantilever shelving in the showroom. We installed a complete wall, 8′ hogh with slat wall to be able to showcase many of the self-serve items we carry. Remember, if you don’t see it, doesn’t mean we don’t have it! Things are starting to look like something!

Two 24′ rows of multi-shelf cantilever shelving will be used to display numerous other products from abrasives and safety supplies to paint, MRO chemicals, and plenty of other useful consumables.

Next came Work Party Weekend. Thanks to all the Staff at the Kelowna Store who gave up their Saturday and came up to Salmon Arm to help set up and install all the warehouse shelving we needed for all the fasteners, hardware and other bulk goods we keep on hand. It was a deafening task with all the crashing and banging of several people putting together a whole lot of metal shelving! But we did it. And in pretty good time too!

Standing back and looking at our handy work, the realization set in that things were now coming together faster and better than we’d imagined (and planned for).

Here are a few pics of the installation of the warehouse shelving. Click to enlarge images.

The noise was deafening!

With the rows roughly spaced the final placement and anchoring begins.

With the shelving installed and the showroom ready for product, the task begins of bringing the project to reality by bringing in the inventory and putting stock away and out on display. Here are some pictures of the progress so far. Remember, these were taken a week or so back. Inventory has expanded and broadened since then —and new stuff arrives daily!

Last week saw the installation of the signage on the building and the installation of the curtainwall and glass storefront. Wow! What a difference a little natural lighting makes! Like it or not, once these two major features were visible from the street, people started coming in, looking around and placing orders. The initial response from the industrial and construction community has been wonderful and genuine. There seems to be a real need in the area for the type of products we carry and people are letting us know about it. On a more personal note, we’ve found the people of Salmon Arm and the North Okanagan and Shuswap in general to be warm, friendly, welcoming people. We’re going to really enjoy servicing you!

So, without further adieu, here are a couple of pics from the street-side of Lakeside  Fasteners —Salmon Arm, so stop on in and let us know what WE, can do FOR YOU!
